Play, Make, Create

This week for Play, Make, Create I worked with Nathan. We did a Create, the create was to create something to help a Panda to get the high pieces of bamboo so we made a pully, a tree, a pond, some grass made out of cellophane and we got some rocks. The book was We Are All Equal. It was had to make the tree because it kept tipping over and the pully was had too. Everything else wasn't as had. I think I showed a lot of Resilcne and I think this was one of the hardest Play, Make, Create's I have done this year.

Whetu Challenge

This week for Whetu Challenge I worked with Darius, Marley, and Shirley. The hardest part was to roll the newspaper skinny enough but everything else was pretty easy. In the end, it did not stand. Making a bass meant we could make our tower taller. It was fun!

Play, Make, Create

This week for play make create I did build I worked with Ganidu, Ben, and Lara. Ganidu, Ben, and I a an obstacle course and a little cabin and deek/Stadium. We made everything out of the battens. The title the book was I'm Sticking with you. I was surprised that the clumps of wood held up the long batttens. This is the first time I have used the battens. If I could change the colour I would.

Play, Make, Create

This week for Play Make Create the book was Be Me. I  did create, I worked alongside Miller, Christian, and Cody. I used a big piece of paper I ruled off 7 boxes and then write my personalities in it.

If I had time I would have tried to colour in more but it still looks good how it is now. One of my box's had Hunting written in it I got some weird paper that looked like Como. Doing another layer around my words made it look cooler.

Term 2, Week 1 2021

During Term 1 we have been practicing our addition and subtraction knowledge through the online programme called NumBots.  At the start, it was super easy but progressively got more challenging.

I am now on the silver level of NumBots.

I enjoy NumBots because as I progressed it got much more challenging, and it has really helped in my learning.

What I find challenging is some of the addition and subtraction equations were quite challenging but once I got the hang of everything it got much easier.

This week we have started TTRockstars.  This is an online program which helps us to learn our timetables. At first, we had to do 10 studio games and the times tables were up to 12x12 which was quite hard because it mean't that I would go down some seconds I ended up going down 40.

I think that TTRockstars will be fun because it's been a while since I've done it, and it will be challenging to get my speed backup.

Play, Make, Create Up The Creek

This week for Play Make Create we read Up The Creek the characters were a Moose a Bear and a Beaver they were friends but they often argued about everything until the day they had to work together to get back home.

I worked with Cullen, We made another way of transport for the Moose, the Bear, and the Beaver so we made mech with swords to cut rocks and grass and other things like that. There was a little cab that they all sat in it. Cullen and I drew their heads and hot glued them on bubble wrap and put cellophane over top. the swords were stuck on by magnets so they could be adjusted.

The magnets work well and the communication between us. I would have liked to add some colour but if we started it we wouldn't have finished in time.

Whetu Fun day

Last Thursday we had a Whetu Fun Day as our camp was postponed.  Our teachers planned a fun day for us instead!  We participated in a Whetu Amazing Race, a range of different fun rotations, a BBQ lunch and play on the council playground then we finished the day with an Easter Egg hunt and an ice block.

My favourite part of the Amazing Race was running all over town and finding the eggs. I also liked the neatball our group choose to do the shooting we had to shoot ten goals to move on. The people in my group were Johan, Cody, Sol, Miller and Fergus.

The rotation I enjoyed the most was the mosaics I liked the mosaics because there were only three people including myself. I did two different colours of paper, they were red and lite green. The other rotation was Pe.

During the Easter Egg Hunt, I found my stick by the Event Centre I was the 2nd one back when we haded in my stick I got an Easter egg and a ice-block.

Play, Make, Create week 9 2021

This week for Play make create I worked with Ben. We got to do whatever we wanted to do about camp or make something to do. Ben and I made a zipline and a fire pit. The hardest part was to get the poles ( Iceblock sticks ) to hold them up we used ice-block and some string. The line was made with string and it kept sinking so we put some blue paper under where it was sinking so it was like when you zipped down you had to let go. The fire pit was made out of sticks and red and yellow paper. It was fun but there was nothing easy because the PVA wouldn't stick anything together so were had to what for the hot glue guns.

Here is a photo!

Maths Mystery

For Maths Mystery I worked with Sol. We got confused on one of the clue's and we got one wrong but went and fixed it up. When we finished and crossed everyone off we found out it was Mollie.

I made something other animals can use to reach leaves on the top branches, I made it out of cardboard and brown paper and I used PVA to glue it down. I also made a tree I used brown paper for the trunk, leaves for the leaves and I used PVA to glue it all down. I made a sun out of yellow scrunched-up paper. And I made  part of the background with blue paper.

Here is my photo.

Week 5, Term 1, 2021

Monday was our school Swimming Sports. On the day I felt good but as the race approached I started to feel nervous. I competed in the one and two lengths freestyle, the one and two lengths breaststroke and the one-length backstroke. I came first in the one and two-length breaststroke, I came sixth in the one-length backstroke but I don't know where I came in the one and two lengths freestyle. I am proud of myself for doing all of those events.

We had two art sessions this week and I am doing art with Mrs loft and Mrs. Heaven. I have finished my draft and I have started my good copy. Our art is like a self-portrait. The hard thing was to trace over my draft because I had to do it up against a window. I am enjoying my art so far.

In reading this week we have started the book called The Twits. The Twits is for my homeroom book. The other book is the Magic Finger that is the book we are reading for literacy. And the book I'm reading for dear is Geronimo Stilton Hands Off Cheeder Face.

Part of our maths programme is NumBots and I am loving it, I am on Tungsten it is a type of metal. As you move up the equations get harder at the moment they aren't too hard but they definitely have got harder. I play the game at school and at home.

The materials we used were sticks leafs a cardboard box and a coloured sharpie. Week 4, Term 1, 2021

The most interesting/fun thing we have done during class time this week is Takaro because usually, we don’t get to play on the playground or get out the sports equipment. I played a lot of things I played on the muscle boys, I played cricket and then played touch rugby and we got to do half an hour of it. I am really enjoying Numbots.

We started our art this week and I have chosen to do art with Mrs Heaven and Mrs Loft. Our art is going to be portrait art. I am looking forward to starting but I also think it might be a challenge to get my head shape right.

We created our WhetÅ« stars on Thursday and they look amazing. I created mine with my mum. I had pictures of Kalie and Dad surfing, Henry and Mum on the biscuit and photos of me surfing and playing rugby and the last photo was a picture of my whole family.

Next week we have our school swimming sports. I am feeling confident for some strokes but nervous for some others.

I love to do breaststroke so I think I could come first in that.

Cohen's first blog post 2021

 Week 3, Term 1, 2021

Someone who has helped me with my learning this year is Mrs. Kennedy and some of the other teachers and my friends.

The most interesting/fun thing we have done during class time is swimming, Numbots, the water slide, Takaro, seeing my friends after the holidays and rotations.

The most fun thing that I have done at a play or lunchtime this year is playing team handball with my friends and playing ball tigi on the big blue.

One word that describes learning in Whetu is fun, interesting and challenging.

Something I am looking forward to is swimming sports, learning new things and helping out when I can.
